John Stefaniuk, is a partner at Thompson Dorfman Sweatman LLP in Winnipeg. John has more than 30 years’ experience in the areas of environmental law, natural resources and energy law (mining, electricity, forestry, oil), property law and business law. John has worked on major resource development projects, environmental approvals and licensing. John has been involved in the successful negotiated of allocation of contaminated site liabilities totaling well over $100 million.
John is ranked in the Chambers Global Guide to the World’s Leading Business Lawyers. He has been repeatedly named to the Lexpert®/American Lawyer Guide to the 500 Leading Lawyers in Canada and is listed in the Canadian Legal LEXPERT Directory under both Environmental Law and Property Development, the International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers, under Environment and by Best Lawyers® under Environmental and Natural Resources law, among other recognitions.
John’s environmental law practice includes advice and assistance to clients in relation to development approvals, permits and licensing, business acquisitions and site contamination and remediation. John has particular experience with the negotiation and mediation of liability allocation issues in multi-party contaminated sites and in the context of civil enforcement under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act.
