BIO

Christine Duchaine has more than thirty-five years of recognized expertise in environmental, energy and expropriation law, as well as in regulatory and municipal law. She is now a partner at Miller Thomson, after having practiced for two decades with major national law firms, including one where she was also a partner, before founding her own firm Sodavex in 2009. She also served for six years as President of the Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Law Section of the Quebec Division of the Canadian Bar Association and was a member of the Environmental Law Forum Steering Committee.

Throughout her career, Me Duchaine has guided clients through complex development projects, including the expansion of waste disposal sites and the establishment of industrial operations. She advises and represents them in obtaining environmental authorizations, negotiating and drafting contractual clauses, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing formal legal opinions. Her expertise also extends to waste management, contaminated soil rehabilitation, and cases involving expropriation and pre-emption rights. A seasoned litigator and strategic negotiator, she regularly represents clients before civil, criminal and administrative courts. Active in the legal and environmental communities, she sits on the Board of Directors of 3RMCDQ and contributes to the Environmental Law Forum. She is also a frequent speaker and instructor, sharing her knowledge with both legal and environmental professionals.
